MoMA

Being that prior to this trip I had never visited the MoMA museum, I made it a priority on my list of things to do while in New York. My Aunt Susan, a MoMA regular, helped navigate us around the museum taking us to each floor with the best works of art and exhibitions. I absolutely lovved the abstract expressionist art, I found myself spending time in front of each piece to understand what the artist was trying to depict. Not only was the museum amazing but the MoMA design shop across the street is filled with endless amounts of trinkets to play with and beautiful jewelry. I fell in love with this gold knot necklace along with many other pieces. After the day at the museum, I took the subway over to Brooklyn {yes Alex, I took the subway!} to meet up with my friends Savannah and Victoria for drinks and dinner {I highly recommend Spuyten Duyvil in Brooklyn for a glass of wine or a beer!}. I have been seriously considering making the move from CA to NYC and the fact that I already have great friends who live there makes the decision that much easier. We'll see.... :)

{i was obsessed with this girls shoes and ability to pull off the most adorable black bob, and yes I was semi-stalking her around the museum}

Something Blue

{H&M pants, boyfriend blazer and scarf, Naughty Monkey booties, Barney's co-op silk button down, Vintage Christian Dior sunglasses}

Last year when I was in New York, it was my first visit since I was about 12 years old. I had a serious love affair with the city during that last visit so naturally, I was excited to return almost exactly a year later. One beautiful afternoon after touring the Frick Estate, my mom, Aunt Julianne and myself decided to take a walk around Central Park. In true NYC tourist fashion we enjoyed soft pretzels, hot dogs and stopped for a few photo opts along the way. The day was truly blissful as Fall was definitely in the air. A perfect afternoon in NYC.

THE PARTY

{Rachel by Rachel Roy jumper, black cherry chutney nail polish-OPI, Michelle watch, Por la Victoire wedges, ft1 knuckle buster ring, Kenneth Jay Lane snake bracelet}

After a week long celebration on the West Coast, continued by a week long celebration on the East Coast, I am finally back home recuperating from a never ending 24th birthday bash. Friday October 15th about 30 of my friends gathered in the Mission at one of my favorite restaurants in the city, Velvet Cantina, for a plethora of pitchers, food & laughs. Donning tacky party accessories, we definitely made ourselves seen + heard at the restaurant which was much to the other patrons dislike...oops. After dinner {and about ten 'happy birthday to you song's, thanks Kev} we all headed over to a bar on Polk St. to meet up with more friends who came out to raise a glass with me. I was all smiles, all evening as I was surrounded by my favorite people who made my 24th birthday one to never be forgotten!!

Tuesday Tunes-Day Volume X

{artwork from the single 'Like It's Her Birthday' by Good Charlotte}

October is one of my favorite months out of the entire year. Not only does my birthday fall mid month {the 14th!} and creating a Halloween costume while consuming mini candy bar's makes me indefinitely happy, the weather in the San Francisco Bay Area seems to be utterly perfect. I have fully enjoyed the sunshine by cruising around with my top down listening to the tunes below on constant repeat. I seem to be digging a lot of UK based artists these days, namely Mark Ronson and his new album, along with random remix's I find on The Hype Machine. Check them out and let me know what you think!

Like It's Her Birthday - Good Charlotte
Bang Bang Bang - Mark Ronson & The Business Intl.

Man Jose

Katherine Power of Who What Wear and Fred Allard the Creative Director of Nine West

The other day, I dragged my friend Lindsey to Nordstrom's in San Jose {which we quickly re-named 'Man Jose' because of the abundance of men in suits} for a Nine West event with special guests Katherine Power and Hillary Kerr of Who What Wear. I found out about this event via Twitter early that morning and immediately tweeted the lovely ladies of Who What Wear in excitement that they were so close to my neighborhood. To my surprise, Hillary tweeted me back so I instantly knew I had no choice but to make the trek to San Jose to meet these powerhouse's who I admire so much. Lindsey and I first stopped at Santana Row for lunch and a little shopping before making our way over to the event where we met Katherine, Hillary and Fred Allard, the creative director of Nine West. The three of them could not have been nicer, Hillary even stopped me on her way out to dote on my skirt that she just haaad to know where I got. She was convinced it was Burberry, but I proudly informed her it was from Target, ha! I left sans shoes, but with a signed copy of my book {which I brought} and an even bigger passion and drive to create a name for myself in the fashion world like these ladies have done.
