Fashion's Night Out: San Francisco Edition

Last night, all the fashion freaks were out, puttin' on the ritz in celebration of San Francisco's annual Fashion's Night Out event. We started at Gucci and made our way down Maiden Lane to Marc Jacobs, ending at Sax Fifth Avenue for more champagne sipping and shopping. It was a sight to see, herds of style drenched ladies & dapper gents running around Union Square and the surrounding area's bopping from store to store. Who ever said San Francisco lacks fashion obviously needs to attend this event for a little major reality check. Until next year!

Words Of Wisdom : A Conversation With Diane Von Furstenberg

In November of 2009 I took a trip to New York with my family {seen here}, and it was the first time I had visited the Empire City since I was about 12 years old. A few weeks before that trip I had just started writing this blog and I began to seriously purse my dream of starting a personal styling business. It was the perfect time to explore one of the most influential fashion capitals of the world to get inspired for both endeavours. During that trip I made it a priority to visit some of my favorite designer's stores, located in the Meatpacking District. Among them was the Diane Von Furstenberg flagship store. While in DVF, I picked up a copy of her book "A Signature Life" and immediately started reading it on the cab ride back to the hotel. Prior to reading her autobiography I was a fan, although it wasn't until after I read her truly empowering story that I became enthralled with her not only as a designer but as a mother, a wife and an entrepreneur. Diane Von Furstenberg has since become my biggest role model in the fashion industry which is why I was so thrilled to come across this conversation she had with Lucky magazine's editor in chief, Brandon Holley at the Lucky Fashion and Beauty Blogger conference in NYC yesterday. This 45 minute conversation is just a teaser {you will have to read her book for the full story of her life} although I encourage all of you to take the time to listen to her uncanny ability to inspire you to become a strong, independent and successful woman in your professional and personal life.

Levi Strauss & Co.

When you think of iconic San Francisco based brands, the first thing that comes to mind is Levi's Strauss. Levi made his denim jeans popular during the California Gold Rush era and they have since been worn by cowboys, lumberjacks & railroad workers, as well as a wide range of youth subcultures, including greasers, mods, rockers, hippies & hipsters. I had the pleasure of attending an event held at the new Levi's boutique located on the bottom floor of the Levi Strauss & Co. Global Headquarters in San Francisco. We were given a behind the scenes look at how their vintage archives inspire collections for the current seasons and we were thrilled to be sent home with a new key piece for fall. I scored a 70's inspired pair of flair denim jeans that I know will be on heavy rotation in my wardrobe. After the event we headed over to the always delicious Don Pistos in North Beach for dinner, drinks, plenty of laughs and a little celebrity chef sighting, Tyler Florence. Big thanks to everyone at Levi Strauss & Co. for a fabulous evening that reminded me why I love this city so much!! Don't hesitate to check out the new boutique located at 1155 Battery Street, SF.

Postcards From Napa Valley

My cousin and his girlfriend are visiting from Australia, so my mom, dad and I took them for a quick trip to Napa Valley. We lunched at our favorite Bistro, Don Giovanni's and stopped for coffee & sweets at Bouchon Bakery. As we were sitting at Bouchon, my dad spotted Thomas Keller {his culinary idol & owner of both landmark Napa Valley restaurants, French Laundry & Bouchon}. I love showing off the beauty of Northern California, it makes it easy to play tour-guide ;) Next stop, San Francisco.

It has become a little habit of mine to go up to Lake Tahoe for the 4th of July and never leave. Between lounging on piers for sun kissed skin, sunset cruises on the Gypsy Cab, refreshing drinks, and running into familiar faces around town, it seems that it is almost impossible for me to get in my car and drive back to reality. My 5 day vacation turned into 10 wonderful days in NeverNeverLand, here are some of my favorite images I captured along the way.

A few weeks ago I jumped on a plane with my friend Kristina and headed to Santa Monica for her bachelorette party. We {myself and 25 of her best girlfriends...yes 25!} stayed at the uniquely luxurious Viceroy hotel situated somersault distance from the beach. Designed by Kelly Wearsler, the interior of this hotel defines Mid-Century modern in the chicest way possible. During our stay we brunched at Shutters on the beach, danced at Gladstones, indulged in banana margaritas at Lula and cured hangovers at Swingers Diner, all the while raising a glass for the beautiful bride to be.
