Fashionably Late Notice

I want to apologize to anyone that has been checking up on my blog only to see a very dated post…
Maybe I am giving myself more credit than necessary and really I am being overly optimistic and somewhat vain to think I have regular followers. Nonetheless I have been vacationing through London and on to Cairo Egypt enjoying a long holiday vacation with very limited Internet connection.
I will try and update my blog as soon as I can translate the abundance of information and amazing experiences I have had that are running through my mind into a post on my blog.
Anywho,
Before I left for my trip something very exciting happened to me :)
Friday night, December 18th I stayed home in an attempt to pack. Instead of packing, I found myself reading my new book,
Who What Wear by Katherine Power & Hillary Kerr.
If you have been following up on my blog you could see that I JUST blogged about this book in my
Fashion, Fashion, Read All About It post and told my readers it is a must have for anyone interested in Fashion/Styling/Lifestyle trends.
Naturally, I tweeted about what I was doing, and to my surprise someone was actually out there reading about it, and even cared enough to reply back!
And who would this be you might ask? Miss Katherine Power herself!
I was ELATED as you can imagine. Being a newcomer in the fashion world, to have someone like Katherine Power a former west coast editor of ELLE, ELLE girl, co-creator of WhoWhatWear.com and author her own book to even acknowledge my existence brought so much excitement to my morning!
If you do not know who she is, I suggest you get familiar and check out her website HERE
You'll thank me later.

Here's how our convo went,
if your not familiar with twitter "RT" means Re-Tweet

@katherinepower: Sounds like a perfect night! RT @GigiOuf: Reading @katherinepower's book @whowhatwear with a glass of savvy blanc :) itsss-a-niccceeee!

Stay tuned and hopefully I'll have more time later to blog about my trip, but for now I'm off to the City Star's which is a mall in Egypt with my cousin to help her pick out an outfit for a party we are attending tonight. Details to come. xo

Splurge Of The Week

I'm well aware that the smartest thing to do before going on a trip over seas would not be to buy these Brain Atwood Studded Ankle Booties because they will literally giving my bank account a hernia, although I think I must order them. Better yet, if they would just come down my chimney that would be even better!

Spotlight On : Erin Wasson

As an international supermodel, Erin Wasson has worked it on the runways for Lanvin, Chloé, Balenciaga and has been on the covers of world renowned magazines such as Elle & French Vogue. Wasson has pursued her dreams of becoming a fashion designer & teamed up with RVCA to make this ahhhmazing collection that I am loving at the moment. RVCA known for collaborating with artists, action sport stars & other athletes has combined forces with Wasson to create this line based on her
 low-key yet edgy style.
You can find her pieces such as this Velvet Boatneck Dress at
Saks Fifth Avenue

Or These Starfire Jean Shorts + More at ShopBop

You Can Also Buy Erin Wasson X RVCA At SSENSE

Fashion, Fashion, Read All About It....

I picked up my copy of Dian von Furstenberg's, A Signature Life on a recent trip I took to New York at her store in the Meat Packing District. This Biography is such an honest story that was so intriguing I finished the book in less than 48 hours. An all time record for me second to New Moon which was finished in less than 24, pathetic! Anyways, I encourage all young women aspiring to make a name for themselves to read this book. If Dian von Furstenberg does not inspire you...I do not know who will.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen came out with this coffee table book around this time last year. What I like about this book is that, as it does have lots of photos of them in it, it is less about them and more about conversations and interviews they had with a variety of artists, designers, photographers and personalities which have inspired and influenced them, hence the name... Influence . Great gift for any fashionista friend!

Katherine Power and Hillary Kerr, Celebrity Blog Queen's have put together this book, Who What Wear which includes their tips and tricks on how to:
- Vintage-Shop like a fashion editor.
-Clean out your closet like a stylist.
-Understand a dramatic runway show and transform it into a real-life look.
-Create the perfect outfit for a causal date, corporate job interview, and more!

When I found this book, American Fashion Cookbook, I immediately wanted to buy as many copies I could for all of my girlfriends. Who wouldn't want to learn how to make Isaac Mizrahis Mushroom Truffle Spaghetti? Or Dian Von Furstenberg's famous chicken dish? A perfect gift for your fashionable friend who loves to cook too!

This book, Fifty Dresses That Changed The World is in a series of four new Design Books, presented by Design Museum and Conran Octopus highlights the timeless dresses from the 1950's until now. This story focus's on the fluctuating change on gender and sexuality as well as economic change in fashion as well as giving amazing insights into the people who wore the dresses + the people who designed them.
